On August 26, the inaugural MICHELIN Guide Southwest Ceremony announced José Andrés Group’s é by José Andrés and China Poblano have each been awarded honors: a star for é and a Bib Gourmand for China Poblano. Guests can experience both restaurants at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, MGM Resort.

“It is the thrill of a lifetime to be getting this recognition from Michelin for é and China Poblano. As a boy I would stand outside the Michelin-starred restaurants of Barcelona and dream of what it would feel like to have stars...and today, with one new star for é and a Bib Gourmand for China Poblano, our incredible restaurants teams—the chefs and cooks, the somms and servers and dishwashers—have made many dreams come true.” -Chef José Andrés

At é, the Michelin star celebrates a unique experience that places the restaurant among the most distinguished restaurants in the Southwest. Guests are seated in an intimate setting and can explore an imaginative and refined culinary journey. The ever-evolving menu boasts rare ingredients and precise technique that will challenge perception. Imagine this: dinner unfolding as a choreographed sequence of inventive courses designed to build anticipation through reveals, counterside moments, unexpected presentations and playful misdirection. The entire journey is playful and theatrical, and some dishes offer entertaining surprises, such as Wonder Bread which transforms a familiar childhood staple into something entirely different.

At China Poblano, the Bib Gourmand celebrates a completely different experience which celebrates a restaurant that brings together two of the world’s great culinary cultures: Mexico and China. The menu beautifully allows each cuisine to own its history, traditions, flavors and unmistakable point of view. The lively, colorful atmosphere is inspired by the street markets of each destination, allowing for an energetic and playful experience. The best way to experience China Poblano is by sharing a range of dishes across each cuisine: start with the tableside guacamole or siu mai, then move to the carnitas tacos made with heirloom Oaxacan corn tortillas alongside Twenty Vegetable Fried Rice. The Salt Air Margarita is a must-have, while the Mango Sticky Rice can make for the perfect last bite.

Together, the awards celebrate the extraordinary range of José Andrés Group. This collection of restaurants is not defined around one definition of dining or cuisine, but around the belief that the power of storytelling is at the root of everything. From spontaneous lunches and celebratory dinners to once-in-a-lifetime culinary tastings, the shared goal is to bring people around the table to gather, eat and connect.

Michelin honoring China Poblano and é adds another chapter to that story, affirming that distinction can take many forms.
