Zaytinya Opens in Frisco, Texas

Chef José Andrés’ ThinkFoodGroup and Turkey-based d.ream (Doğus Restaurant Entertainment and Management) today announced that Zaytinya is now open for dinner service at The Star in Frisco. The restaurant is Andres’ first in Texas, and second Zaytinya location overall.

A top D.C. dining destination, Zaytinya, has been renowned since 2002 for its inventive Turkish, Greek and Lebanese cuisine. For the past two years, the restaurant has been awarded the coveted Bib Gourmand distinction from the Washington, D.C. Michelin Guide. Helmed by concept chef, Michael Costa, Zaytinya has also won a range of prestigious awards and accolades from critics and media alike. Other recent accolades for the restaurant include two three-star reviews from the Washington Post, and the #9 spot on Washingtonian’s ‘100 Very Best Restaurants 2016’ list.

In Frisco, Chef Jonathan Thompson will serve as Head Chef of Zaytinya. Thompson relocated to Texas in 2009 and opened Samar and Stampede 66 with local culinary legend, Stephan Pyles. Prior to that, he served as the Chef de Cuisine for Gerard Pangaud in Washington DC, and cooked at Bradley Ogden's in Las Vegas.

“I can’t think of a better second home for my restaurant Zaytinya – it’s beautiful, in this incredible development by my friends, the Jones family,” said Andrés. “I’m so proud of what my team has accomplished, and I have an amazing chef team supporting me including Concept Chef Michael Costa, Head Chef Jon Thompson and Chef Partner Aglaia Kremezi, who has been integral to the Zaytinya family since we first opened in D.C.”

Guests at Zaytinya can enjoy an expansive mezze menu featuring authentic and innovative fare from Turkey, Greece and Lebanon. Signature dishes include the Spit Roasted Lamb Shoulder, featuring roasted Jamison lamb shoulder with lettuce leaves, harissa, cucumber tzatziki and garlic toum, Crispy Brussels Afelia with coriander seed, barberries and garlic yogurt, and Spanokopita, with house-made phyllo, spinach and feta cheese. Along with a curated list of Mediterranean wines, a selection of house-crafted cocktails featuring unique spirits like Raki, Ouzo and Arak is also available.

Zaytinya Frisco’s stunning interior, designed by The Rockwell Group, is evocative of the menu with authentic Mediterranean materials such as terracotta and Turkish patterns paired with a weathered, sun-bleached palate and hints of Yves Klein blue for an eclectic atmosphere reminiscent of the Greek Isles. Multiple lounge tables and modern furniture with soft, subtle curves provide comfortable seating for up to 250 guests. The restaurant’s open kitchen provides diners with the opportunity to interact directly with the exciting theater of the chefs at work.
