AET's Summer Road Trip Festival

June 2019

This summer, America Eats Tavern is celebrating American regional cuisine with its first-ever Summer Road Trip Festival! From June 3 through July 7, José’s restaurant focused on celebrating American cuisine is driving down the East Coast from the Chesapeake Bay to Florida and across to the Mississippi Delta, tasting all of the region’s favorite dishes along the way.

Join AET as they travel through the southeast’s rich culinary history with special menu items from every stop. Try a dish each week of the festival and get your passport card stamped for a chance to win prizes like hush puppies, a whiskey flight, and tickets to the restaurant’s 5th of July party.

Here’s the itinerary:

Week 1: Buckle up and hit the road down the Virginia/Carolinas corridor for some softshell crab with succotash, Carolina smoked shrimp ‘n’ grits, and strawberry shortcake for dessert.

Week 2: Stay in the Carolinas for She Crab Soup and make your way to Georgia for a classic Brunswick Stew.

Week 3: Take a turn down to Florida and back up the Mississippi Delta with delicious Key Lime Pie and Louisiana Dirty Rice.

Week 4: End in Louisiana for some good old-fashioned oyster po’boys.

Each Tuesday of the festival, Chef Claudio Foschi is hosting a crab boil on the patio and every Sunday there’s family-style jambalaya.

In the fifth and final week of the road trip, Chef Claudio will bring back guest favorites from along the way and celebrate America at a 5th of July party with food, live music, and more.
