Pepe Food Truck Returns To The Road March 7

When José’s food truck Pepe went into hibernation last November, bocata sandwich lovers of Washington had to wait all winter to get their fix.

Now that spring is in the air, Pepe is getting ready to hit the road again. Pepe’s first day out will be Monday, March 7, when he will be parked at Franklin Square in the heart of DC’s downtown. Then on Thursday, March 10, Pepe will visit Metro Center. Pepe will be at those same locations each Monday and Thursday in March. Keep an eye on social media, where team Pepe will announce other locations.

What’s on the menu? Mouthwatering sandwiches on fresh-baked bread, made from local ingredients with a Spanish flair. Among the menu items returning for this year is the fan favorite pollo frito (fried chicken) sandwich (pictured), a pulled pork sandwich with pork from Rocky Hollow Farm, a Portobello sandwich with Southern Pennsylvania ‘shrooms, the Fútbol Club Barcelona chicken sandwich, and of course, the Spanish Serrano ham sandwich with Manchego cheese.

The menu will also feature soups made with seasonal ingredients from Virginia’s Barajas Farm, as well as José’s own olive oil and Himalayan sea salt potato chips.

What’s new for this year? Jaleo Crystal City Head Chef Domenick Torlucci, who oversees Pepe, says that new items are in the works.

But you never know what José will have up his sleeve.
