August 2015

On July 25, José spoke to a group of African chefs about hunger, the hazards of cookstoves, and the world of culinary entrepreneurship at the Global Entrepreneurship Summit in Nairobi, Kenya. The summit brought to light the innovations and growth taking place across the clean cookstoves and fuels market. José was accompanied by fellow American President Barack Obama, who was the keynote speaker of the two-day event, as well as U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker, singer Akon, and Shark Tank TV personality and U.S. Presidential Ambassador for Global Entrepreneurship Daymond John, all who joined him to speak on a panel about Women and Youth Entrepreneurship, a subject that is very important to address in order to promote development in Kenya and around the globe. José focused much of his discussion on his close work with entrepreneurship partners in his work in Haiti with World Central Kitchen. He highlighted that innovation and entrepreneurship are key drivers of development.
