José and Team Say Thanks for Houston Contributions

José and the team from World Central Kitchen, including volunteers from the WCK Chef Network, were able to cook 1,000 meals a day for people in need in Houston, thanks to generous contributions from supporters and partners. The donations came in from all around the country, supporting the team's efforts at the George R. Brown Convention Center and throughout Houston. José spent almost a week in the area accompanied by four chefs, and ten more chefs will be be on hand from the Chef Network to continue this invaluable work.

Guests who came into José's restaurants in DC, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and Miami showed a huge outpouring of support. Special dishes at each restaurant - Jaleo's Gazpacho, China Chilcano's Dancing Yucca, Oyamel's Guacamole, and Zaytinya's Hommus - were being offered for $100, all of which would be a direct donation to the efforts in Houston. Other restaurants, including Beefsteak China Poblano and Bazaar Meat in Las Vegas, also had opportunities for donating to the cause. Through these opportunities, guests donated more than $2000, a great help to the people of Houston.

The team also would like to thank culinary partners - so far, World Central Kitchen has recieved donations (both financial and in-kind) from Touchpoint Support Service, Levy and Restaurant Associations (all divisions of Compass USA), as well as HMS Host, Performance Food Group, Middleby/Turbo Chef, Tupelo Honey, Cuisine Solutions, DOT Foods, Ethnica Foods, Barton Springs Mill, Riviana Foods, and Perdue Farms.
