A partnership with the US State Department.
“Food isn’t traditionally thought of as a diplomatic tool, but sharing a meal can help people transcend boundaries and build bridges in a way that nothing else can,” said former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. With that the US State Department launched the Diplomatic Culinary Partnership with a goal to elevate the role of culinary engagement in America’s formal and public diplomacy efforts. Partnering with the James Beard Foundation, the American Chef Corp was created, with Jose as one of its first and most active chefs. In this role, chefs will offer their time and talent to collaborate with the Office of the Chief of Protocol, the Bureau of International Information Programs, and the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.
